Finally the weekend has arrived at Rauhallinen Farm with great anticipation of mid 6o’s temps and a chance to work on painting the front porch and back patio, moving out the lawn furniture, and any number of other chores to return to the warm months, I fertilized all 17 perennial beds yesterday and look forward to the trout lilies blooming any day now. In my gardens, the very dramatic orange and black oriental poppy will be the first to bloom and provide for many exposures in the studio. Even though one would expect to not gain much excitement out of seasonal displays they have witnessed a multitude of times, each bloom and subtle change in the fauna and flora of the Northwoods is always like viewing the phenomena for the first time-I never tire of it.
