I had the boys over their Spring Break, which is always a treat for me. Coerced them to pose, with the usual consternation that there mother would give me at their ages. Still snow in the woods and in most of the yard, but it will be gone by the end of the week. Rained today and will do so tomorrow too. Since childhood, this has always been my most disliked time of the year. Not a fan of mud and dirty snow. Soon it will be time to take down the gardens from last season and till the flower beds to ready them for new perennial blooms. With 17 perennial beds at Rauhallinen Farm, it is a one or two day affair.
Shot two rolls of Tri-X today, primarily on architectural subjects. Will do the same tomorrow to the East, with Kodak Portra and Fomapan 100.
“I remember my childhood names for grasses and secret flowers. I remember where a toad may live and what time the birds awaken in the summer -- and what trees and seasons smelled like -- how people looked and walked and smelled even. The memory of odors is very rich.”
― John Steinbeck, East of Eden
