A weekend with much drudgery and little photography makes one out of sorts, but tis what this weekend holds. Snowblowing, income tax preparation, household tasks, firewood delivery, grocerying, laundry-all of the things one cannot catch up on during the work week. Just maybe a drive to Lake Superior between the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness and Ontonagon on Sunday to shoot the ice formations on the shores of the big pond with the Hasselblad and Harman Titan 4x5 Pinhole. Will be motivation to work hard on Saturday.
For readers anticipating a purchase of the much hyped Intrepid 4x5 or 8x10 cameras, a word of caution following my recent experiences with their 8x10 and two subsequent 4x5 models. All were plagued with a multitude of sloppy construction errors (wobbly focus track, bad gearing on focus track, light leaks on the rear standard, and today with a replacement 4x5, a front standard cut too large for a snug fitting lens board. No excuse for a paucity of quality control, even at their low price break. I did not expect a Deardorff, but did expect a usable camera.
