My son, Dr. Eric will be arriving from California for Whitetail Deer (Archery) season tomorrow afternoon and stay until Sunday. It is probably his favorite week of the year and I have been keeping his deer fed well and shooting lane brushed. I am certain he will be successful, as Rauhallinen Farm has no shortage of bucks. First load of firewood is coming Saturday, as the wood boiler is going full blast and will run to April or May. People who move here and don’t handle seven months of snow and cold temperatures usually leave after the first winter. If you don’t like to snowshoe, x country ski, snowmobile, etc, this could be a miserable place for you, even with the beauty. We like it that way-keeps the population down and rustic. Still developing film from last weekend and have eight 4x5 sheets and one roll of Portra 160 to soup.
“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
