Getting very excited while planning a ten day trip to California to take place this March. Will be visiting both Eric and Genevieve in the Bay area and then Antoinette and Greg in San Diego. I am planning on photographing with the 8x10 Intrepid, which I will ship there ahead of time, in addition to a couple of Rollei's, and the Harman Titan Pinhole. At this point, my desire is to use the 8x10 in the footsteps of my photographic hero, Edward Weston. We will visit Oceano Dunes, the site of his many famous nudes, then later in the day, make the drive to his favorite photographic destination, Point Lobos on the Pacific. Time permitting and if we get lucky enough to get a reservation, we will be getting a tour of his home on Wildcat Hill in Carmel by his grandson, Kim and wife. What a dream. The plan with Antoinette and Greg will entail photographing at the beautiful and remote Joshua Tree National Park.
Now to consult the rules of composition before making a picture is a little like consulting the law of gravitation before going for a walk. Such rules and laws are deduced from the accomplished fact; they are the products of reflection... - Edward Weston
