Back from Mayo without issue. Was not able to photograph in the Mississippi River Valley between Wisconsin and Minnesota, as the roads were icy and for some reason, Minnesota roads in that area have absolutely no area to pull over on-a few feet to the white line and then a big drop down. I have no idea how folks change a flat, as it is impossible to pull over without a good half of your car on the highway. Their big whoopdedoo about a blizzard last night and today would have qualified as a regular winter day here without mention. Their snowplowing was too late and not well organized, which is typical for areas that are not used to large amounts of snow all winter. Once I left the city, everything was fine for the most part.
My brother is coming to snowshoe and photograph this weekend. We have discussed a trip to the Keweenaw and the Porcupine Mountains (Presque Isle Unit), but we shall see.
