This is a very magical creek when the light is even or flat. One can take only five steps upstream or downstream and capture a completely different set of reflections and mood. It did not take me long to end up finishing a roll of Tri-X with the Blad and two sheets of 4x5 in the Harman Titan Pinhole. I am fortunate to live in the middle of a beautiful wilderness, but this small tract of land in Southwestern MIchigan has always drawn me to hike and photograph. In my earliest days of film work with Nikon F3HP bodies and Kodachrome 64, I would bring a small translucent tent for photographing wildflowers to stop any wind. I soon tired of the small negatives and purchased my first Hasselblad at Helix Photo in Chicago while there on a day trip in the 80’s. Spent a lot of money in that store, as well as Calumet Photo and Central Camera in Chicago during the years I lived in Southwestern Michigan. Sadly, Central Photo is the only one of these retailers that remains. These days, virtually all of my photographic supplies (film and chemistry) comes from B&H Photo out of NYC, or Freestyle Photo in California-both highly reputable online dealers with competitive pricing and good service.
