Last summer while browsing the field guide and art section of my favorite used bookstore, Chequamegon Books in Washburn, WI, I was fortunate to find this 1994 reprint of the 1894 edition of The Wildflwers of America. It was in a pile of books that the owners had just purchased and was waiting to be priced and shelved. I grabbed it quickly and we agreed upon a price. The hand painted plates are superb, even if one is not interested in wildflowers. The real tansy are from my woodspath, or for that matter, about anywhere you look. I use them in dried arrangements in antique vases in various rooms in the farmhouse.
