My coworker, Sally and her husband Dean surpised me this morning by plowing the 6 inches of snow that fell, in addition to bringing in 8 bags of wood pellets from the Toyota and loading up the wood boiler. Both 2nd generation Finlanders, who are like family. Sally picked me up from the hospital the night of my accident. I may live alone, but am not alone. On March 1, I will have lived here in the wilderness of the Western Upper Peninsula for 7 years. During that time, the many relationships I have had the good fortune to cultivate have amply and consistently demonstrated the caring of these kind hearted yoopers that have taken Benny and I in.
