It was a beautiful crisp day that I took you to this birthplace of my grandparents (Calumet/Laurium) with our Holgas in hand. We also drove up to Copper Harbor and on the way down, had a picnic lunch (hot dogs and baked beans on the camp stove) at Haven Park Falls across the road from Lac Labelle. A lovely Keweenaw day and memory. It is a magic place that I visit many times per year, including winter for the magic of the ruins, unique architecture, and ambience of a lost world that is preserved.
"Knowing more about family history is the single biggest predictor of a child's emotional well-being. Grandparents can play a special role in this process, too." Bruce Feiler
