Yet another blizzard last night through tomorrow. Upper Peninsula residents are indifferent to snow in quantities that would paralyze more southern regions in the state. Nothing closes and more importantly, people drive normally, as they have grown up learning to navigate intrepid conditions. Getting ready to order a semi-load of 8 foot logs for next years firewood. Ten cords (30 face cords) will keep me, the chainsaw, and the trailer busy across the summer, cutting loading, unloading and stacking. Firewood warms you many times.
Had a reporter from The Ironwood Daily Globe send me an email stating he saw that I was published in the Lake Superior Magazine Photo Contest and wanted to do a story. I will respectfully decline, as I cherish my privacy more than local recognition for my work. I joked with my son, noting that I would not feel good about having my art eventually end up as a newsprint liner in a litter box...
"Some keep the Sabbath going to Church,
I keep it staying at Home –
With a bobolink for a Chorister,
And an Orchard, for a Dome."
~Emily Dickinson, c.1862
