The first shot post of Lost Creek Falls was done with the 300 Fujinon and this one with the 150 G-Claron, which serves as a slightly wide angle focal length for the 5x7 format. It would be a normal focal length for 4x5 (like 50mm is in 35mm format). All of the milkweed pod seedheads across the countryside have burst open their little cotton-like parachutes and the yards and fields glistened on this warm Fall day. I have never seen a deer season, either archery or rifle, when you are in short sleeves and hot in the blind. Very strange. Just two years ago by the first week in November we had over five feet of snow in a few days. Completely killed the rifle season for the entire U.P., as most people simply could not get into their camps.
"You ever been arrested before?"
"No sir. This is my first time."
"The first time this week, you mean."
"Oh, I been arrested in Michigan. I thought you meant in Illinois. I never been arrested in Illinois. I never did no wrong in Illinois."
"What good does that do you?"
"It don't. It's just that I love my state so much I go to Michigan to steal," he explained with an expression almost beatific.”
