I received the following email from the editor of "Lake Superior Magazine, noting a second place standing for an image of Lake Superior (Abandoned Ore Dock, Ashalnd, WI). It is an honor to have my work printed in this exceptional publication. Winning a year's subscription is an added bonus. I will post the image here not sooner than February 1st, as requested below.
Dear Kirt Carter,
I couldn’t reach you by phone, so I'm sending off this note to congratulate you on winning Second Place in the Artsy/Altered category in the Lake Superior Magazine Photo Contest. Your “Abandoned Ore Dock” shot is a dramatic image. Thank you for entering it into our contest.
The magazine mails later this week, but it might be a week or two before you it reaches. By the end of the month, I’ll also send out your certificate, another copy of the issue and Lake Superior Mini Calendar. You’ll also be receiving a one-year subscription to the magazine. (If you already subscribe, we’ll add a year to the subscription.)
On February 1, we announce the winners to regional, national and local media. Could you suggest local publications or broadcast outlets that we should contact?
Feel free to tout your win on social media, but please don’t post the photo until at least Feb. 1; you also could link that day or after to www.LakeSuperior.com where all of the winners will be posted.
Thanks again for entering and for your great work.
