Mud Creek is a few miles north of Rauhallinen Farm, crossing Lake Road. It is my understanding that it used to be a fine brook trout stream, but no longer holds that status, due to warming and silt. I have caught a few nice brookies from the bridge on Lake Rd., but there are many better rivers and creeks to trout fish. The same for my own Spring Creek-no longer a prime trout stream, but as the Mud, still beautiful. Both streams flow west where they empty into the East Branch of the Montreal River, the border between the U.P. and Northern Wisconsin. The Montreal empties into Lake Superior, not too distant from where the Mud and Spring join it. Virtually all of both creeks are uninhabited and undeveloped....a status that makes the U.P. what it is.
Some keep the Sabbath going to Church,
I keep it staying at Home—
With a bobolink for a Chorister,
And an Orchard, for a Dome.
Beginning in a few days, I will be experimenting with an "audio" version of each blogpost, using a professional grade condenser microphone (Blue Yeti), often used for professional podcasts and recording projects. I will also be able to record my Martin 0001 acoustic guitar with it, recording and layering tracks with Audacity. Something new to work with and an opportunity for readers to turn into listeners, like a podcast.
