Raining and overcast today. Our weather will remain hot and humid across the weekend, during which time Benny and I will be backpacking the North Country Trail in the Trap Hills (Norwich Bluffs section). Will have to bring bug dope, shorts, and more water than usual. I need to do this 24 miler to get my confidence back after the cancer, surgery, etc. I still plan on doing a 6-8 month AT through hike when I retire, so I must stay in shape. Looking forward to seeing "A Walk in the Woods", Bill Bryson's humorous backpacking story just released this weekend for the big screen, when Benny and I return from our own adventure. Photographing has always been a reinforcing part of backpacking-the chance to document an adventure, share, etc. I never bring the Canon 5D or any of the L lenses, due to their bulk and weight. The Canon S95 point and shoot has served admirably in this capacity, as well as my smaller Gitzo carbon fiber tripod. Both have suffered some spills over the years from rough outdoor use, but function quite adequately.
If thou remember'st not the slightest folly
That ever love did make thee run into,
Thou hast not loved.
William Shakespeare, "As You Like It"
