This night-flowering biennial opens in the evening and is closed by noon the following day. On some overcast days, you may find them open all day. It is a rarity to see them fully open, unless you too are nocturnal. The oil from the seeds has been used for centuries for various ailments. The roots are edible and the seeds can be used for bird seed.
