This has been the most uncharacteristically warm summer I have experienced in the last five years of living in the Western U.P. Many days in a row of mid 80's-more typical of Southwestern Michigan where I migrated here from. All the ceiling fans are going in each room, in addition to the AC in my bedroom at bedtime. Finished "Walking My Dog Jane" last night, which was an excellent adventure read. Ned and his lab, Jane, hiked the entire length of the Alaska Pipeline, from shore to shore (Arctic Sea). My kind of read, filled with interesting people, encounters, and reflections on the natural world. On to the new Sally Mann autobiography, "Hold Still-A Memoir"
"My father was very sure about certain matters pertaining to the universe. To him all good things-trout as well as eternal salvation-come by grace and grace comes by art and art does not come easy."
Norman Maclean, "A River Runs Through It and Other Stories"
