Leaving for Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, WI early Monday morning. Pre-surgery outpatient appointments all day, beginning at 0900. The hospital is about 150 miles south of Rauhallinen Farm, so not too much of a drive. Thoracic surgery scheduled for Tuesday to remove the tumor in the lower lobe of my right lung. My son will be there and my friend, Tom and his wife, Sharon, will drive down when I am out of intensive care to bring the RAV4 back to the farm. Benny will stay at Bluffview Kennels. This is the first time we have been apart in nearly four years-hard on us both, but Paula Gribb, the owner, will take good care of him. While there is certainly intermittent anxiety about the pathology report, the most trying part of this will be the recovery period, as I do not sit well. Not being able to cut my lawn and work in the gardens for some weeks sounds reprehensible. If I can bend over a bit, I will still be able to do studio work with wildflowers. There is one special person who will remain in my thoughts (where she resides quite regularly) as a palliative measure. I will begin posting again in a week or so, or perhaps sooner if I feel up to it with my tablet in the hospital.
