Twenty two potted perennial and annuals completed, seeds planted, and Rauhallinen Farm is headed towards summer. Revisiting a large tropical plant I have not used in almost fifteen years-The Castor Bean Plant (from which the poison Ricin comes). It grows to towering heights of up to 12 feet or more and bushes out. When the seeds germinated under lights a few days ago, the leaves were already an inch long-like something from a different planet. Will be adding a couple of pear trees to the apples planted last weekend, in addition to some Japanese Plum. Three to six more pines for the front of the house and done for the year. Have been too busy to trout fish (or fish at all) but hope to remedy that this weekend. My youngest daughter, Madeline, will be graduating at the end of the month and due to her hard work and dedication, will be headed to the University of Michigan in the Fall with a nice grant, due to her GPA and ACT scores. Proud of her, not only for her academic prowess, but for her dedication to dance, which is currently in the 12th year of practice and performance.
