A new find on the way home from the clinic today, just a mile from the farm. As the name implies, more like a grass topped with very petite purple and white flowers. They seem to stay closed or at best, partially open (but perhaps that is different in the early morning). A very photogenic species. I am noticing the first of the lupines are up and beginning to acquire color. Gogebic County country roads become sea of purple, pink, blue, and white when the lupines bloom in full. Awe inspiring for up to three weeks.
