I lost some annuals in the two nights of frost while I was at my daughter's graduation. Brought home replacement plants and put them in on Monday. Done with planting, including trees and shrubs until I am recovered from surgery. The landscape design for the Rauhallinen Farm is coming along as a work in progress. Each late winter, I sit down and sketch out plans, decide on plants and placement, and accomplish what I can afford. Aside from photography and writing, it is my other right-brained (visual) connection with the world. People that visit typically comment, ,"this must be a lot of work to keep up." Work is a euphemism that is sometimes used to describe photographic endeavors (working with the camera, working on a new project, etc.) as well. The fact remains that these passions provide me joy and are hardly recognized as falling in the same dimension as work. The other advantage of the many and diverse gardens is the propagation of photographic subjects for the studio.
