Monarchs

April 27, 2015

These fellows were harvested by my seven year old grandson last summer with his butterfly net here on the farm. I have an entire countertop in the studio/basement filled  with dried this and that for still life work, including a number of interesting moths collected from the barn.  Managed to get the patio scrapped and painted with two coats, all 20 some outdoor pots filled with potting soil and put in their places, and all the patio furniture and grill put in place. Productive weekend, but not with the camera, other than this studio shot. A change in plans for my thoracic surgery. Instead of Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, WI, my Urologist daughter-in-law will be arranging surgery in one of the hospitals she works in in metro Detroit. Makes more sense to be able to have Benny stay with my brother (and visit with his male schnauzer of the same age), while I stay at my son's home before and after the surgery. My brother will drive me home to the U.P. and stay and help out a bit, then have his wife come to visit their kids in Iron Mountain and pick him up.  It felt so good to be out in the sun and work in the yard all weekend-took my mind to the present moment instead of fusing with anxiety over this surgery and the thereafter business.
