Unfortunately, I am old enough to remeber these before snow tires existed. They were on the 46 Willys Jeep we kept at our hunting camp to aid in winter travel on unplowed forest roads. Next came snow tires, then briefly studs, which were later outlawed. 60F today, which allowed me to finish digging out the 4x8 utility trailer which I use Spring, Summer, and Fall for landscaping, hauling feed, deer, wood, etc. Someone I know was foolish enough to leave it next to the barn which now has a metal roof. Any warmer sunny day in the winter and all the snow (often multiple feet) slides off. It did exactly that and buried the trailer under six feet of frozen snow. I don't know that brainless twit.
