This festival has grown to be one of America's favorite birding and nature events from the shores of Lake Superior at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland, WI. Workshops, lectures, field studies, guided hikes and tours, evening programs, etc. With May heralding the return of many bird species, in addition to the emegence of spring plants and wildflowers, this festival is timed perfectly for a wide range of field topics by reknowned naturalists. Well worth a drive if you do not live in the Northwoods. Ashland is right on Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior, as are Washburn and Bayfield (Apostle Islands) further up the coast. Lots of lodging, bed and breakfasts, coffee shoppes, bookstores, and specialty stores.
