A beautiful day to cut wood.Tom and I continue to work on the 20 logger cord mountain of eight foot logs at his place. As it was cut by his logger neighbor and delivered this winter, it is wet and heavy hard maple (hard maple is a dense wood to begin with, but when green is like lifting a VW beetle with 10 inch diameter 16 inch logs). As the wood boiler does not require splitting, these big peices are good for at night. Tom is like your dad and I can see the two of them getting along well. He can fix, design, and build anything (He and Sharon are in the fifth year of building a palace of a two story log home from scratch, including cutting all the logs and lumber on their own sawmill). I have learned a lot from him. Home and still time for B and I to walk our near four mile route in just a light jacket.
