Spring Creek runs next to Rauhallinen Farm. In the Summer, it is home to beaver (who ruined the brook trout fishing years before I moved here) and a nice variety of birds, including a number of species of warbler. The warblers are easiest to spot and identify when they return, but before the tag alders leaf out. Being tiny, and moving about after insects constantly, you must be quick with the binoculars, carrying in short term memory, what you see to your field guide for identification. My oldest grandson found this to be a great challenge. The creek widens as it flows towards the East Branch of the Montreal River. This section is one road over from my farm as seen from the bridge on Vanderhagen (the road which will take you to Little Girl's Point on Lake Superior). The farm is 14 miles South of Little Girl's Point.
