My good pal, Opal, who I mentored during her first year as a Clinical Social Worker for the VA here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (she is the MSW at the Menominee Community-Based Outpatient Clinic), forwards me her copies of "The Sun", a literary magazine of exceptional quality. I have been so impressed by the publication, I subscribed myself, so as not to miss an issue. Sitting down tonight and reading my most recent issue by the fire of the pellet stove after a long week. A Friday evening, with winter finally arriving with temps near 8F as I write. Finishing up a bit of Xmas shopping in the morning, and headed out to the Sylvania WIlderness for the first ice fishing expedition of the year (Crooked Lake), in search of some large bluegill for dinner. Life in the UP is good (but don't come here, we want to keep it primitive).
