I have used the same journal/plannner for the past 15 years, made by Time Traveler. Saving them each year, as they record significant parts of my life, both encapsulating elation and tradgedy. Occasionally, I will thumb through one or a few, sometimes not strong enough to pick a certain year and set it back in the antique oak bookshelf in this living room and choose another year. The collection has seen the loss of both parents, a daughter, a soulmate. It has recorded the discovery of lung cancer, thoracic surgery, and recovery. The loss of a career and the beginning of another more suitable one. The purchase of my beloved Rauhallinen Farm. The establishment of new friendships and a support network of people who care about me. The publication of my first photo monograph. The further development of my photographic vision, image processing skills, and art in general. Representation by a new gallery. The first White-Tailed deer shot by my son. The potential return of someone who was lost.... Our individual journeys are random, unique, and very personal, but all share something in common....they are not predictable, but we do have the power to make change.
“There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you'd better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you'll never understand what it's saying.”
