The weather has been simply glorious, in terms of warmer than usual Fall temps in the Western UP. If it keeps this up, the lawn may need cutting once more before the snow flies for six months. This was a banner year for accomplishing a majority of my landscaping vision at the farm. Last month, I moved a number of plants, based on previous mistakes in placement (too tall/short for a location) and have that aspect fine tuned now. Next spring, I will be adding a 16 x 16 enclosed vegetable bed in the middle of the back yard between the apple trees that were planted this year, extending two perennial beds in the backyard into one, and adding four trees to the front yard. If funds allow, I want to have an excavator come in and fill in the ditch by the road in the front of the house, make a large bed there, and replant the rest of the fill with new grass. There is no purpose for it (as there is no culvert and it does not hold water) and it is hard to cut, as it is full of boulder tops and too steep for the tractor. That will complete the plan, other than adding new plants as I fancy.

What wound did ever heal but by degrees?"
