I pondered where I might wander with you if you were present today....likely just where I went this morning.... up the coast to Bayfield and the Apostle Islands and back, with a stop to Chequamegon Books in Washburn for coffee and browsing......sufficiently apropos for two old bookstore and coffee shoppe urchins. These Canadian Geese seemed to be enjoying the last of the open water prior to Chequamegon Bay becoming solid until April or later. By January, I will be driving the RAV4 out to set up the ice shack, as there will eventually be three to four feet of ice.
Last summer, I discovered a new podcast in the story-telling format...like "This American Life" on steroids. Exceptionally well produced by Lia Thau, Peabody award winning producer and former Director of my other favorite story-telling podcast of great renown, "The Moth." Some of these stories will leave you in tears, while others smiling and sufficiently intrigued. There are three different stories on a young woman named Jenni Rowell, who battled cancer with a vigor and personality that should make us all feel bad for whining about anything. Check out the "Strangers" website here:
You can also subscribe via the iTunes store like I do. Enjoy....
"The Moth" can also be subscribed to on iTunes, or you can get current and archived stories on their website as well:
