This evening marked the initial lighting of the outdoor wood boiler. In my estimation from the previous three winters, it will keep a fire until the middle to end of May. The pellet stove is used to provide extra warmth to the family room, which is an addition and is not always run. Together with the two foot thick stone walls, they do a nice job in keeping this large old 94 year old Finnish Farmhouse toasty warm. If you ever come (aside from in my dreams), sitting on the couch or floor in front of the pellet stove is about as snuggly as it gets in the winter with pajamas on, sipping a glass of fine wine and listening to classical music.
"A final comfort that is small, but not cold: The heart is the only broken instrument that works."
