Ex Post Facto

How often does the commonplace
become ethereal
after it has managed
an absence
so unaccounted for
that even the most
observant
are caught unaware.
These moments
which we begin to cherish
in memory
like C.J. Jung's
notion
of the collective unconscious
are as deceiving as
the last warm Fall day.
For upon the next unsuspecting
gaze
they are gone.
