Slender Blue Flag (Iris prismatica)

This lithe wildflower is nature's version of the common garden variety of  Iris, but much more beautiful and delicate. I find them in wetland areas, typically growing in small clumps together. In a week or two they will all be gone. The entire wildflower season is a tapestry of comings and goings, from April until October (and later, if you are still interested in working with spent subjects that are dried, or otherwise deceased).
